Rushall is conveniently situated for visiting many tourist attractions. These include Stonehenge(World Heritage site) only 20 minutes drive; Avebury stone circle and many burial mounds and forts; several white horses; Salisbury Cathedral; Old Sarum; Wilton House; Roman and Georgian Bath; the attractive 900 year old town of Marlborough with its wide high street lined with period buildings and lanes, famous for it's college and jazz festival(July); the country houses and estates of Stourhead(National Trust) and Longleat with its Safari park; Hungerford with its plethora of antique shops; Pewsey, an attractive village associated with King Alfred The Great and now famous for its annual carnival(mid September); and Devizes, an unspoilt market town which reputedly possesses more listed buildings than any other town in England. Rushall is a good base to explore the mysterious crop circles(corn circles)which appear in nearby fields in June, July and August.

Cathedral City of Salisbury

Salisbury is one of the most beautiful cathedral cities in Britain. Home to one of four original copies of Magna Carta, the Cathedral with its famous spire stands at the heart of the city. Stonehenge

The great and ancient stone circle of Stonehenge is one of the wonders of the world. What visitors see today are the substantial remnants of the last in a sequence of such monuments erected between circa 3000BC and 1600BC. There has always been intense debate over quite what purpose Stonehenge served. Wilton House

Wilton House is home to the 17th Earl of Pembroke. This beautiful historic house, one of the treasure houses of England, is set in 21 acres of magnificent landscaped parkland. The house is home to a world famous art collection, situated in spectacular state rooms that have been used for filming scenes from Mrs Brown and Sense and Sensibility. Wilton House

Longleat House and Safari Park

Longleat House and Safari Park are set within 900 acres of Capability Brown landscaped parkland.

Longleat Safari park is a superb day out, but a Passport ticket means that you could visit on more than one day of your stay at Chestnuts Cottage to make sure you enjoy all it has to offer, from boat trips round Gorilla Island with a seal escort, to driving among the giraffes, zebras and monkeys too if you are brave enough! Old Sarum

Old Sarum was originally a huge Iron Age hill fort. It was later occupied by the Romans and Saxons and finally by the Normans who built the Castle, Cathedral and Bishop's Palace. Only in the 13th century was the Cathedral moved to its current location. Old Sarum

Avebury

Avebury is the largest stone circle in the world: it is 427m (1401ft) in diameter covering an area of some 28 acres. A great ring of 98 sarsen slabs encloses two smaller circles of 30 stones each and other settings and arrangements of stones. Avebury

The City of Bath

Bath and the stunning countryside surrounding it is one of England's most beautiful places to visit. It is a unique city; its hot springs, Roman Baths, splendid Abbey and Georgian stone crescents have attracted visitors for centuries. The Market town of Marlborough

Marlborough on the River Kennet is the most sizeable town in this part of rural Wiltshire and has changed little since the mid 19th century. The town has one of the widest High Streets in the country, lined with Georgian buildings including many fine old inns from the days when Marlborough was a coaching station.Marlborough Town

Lacock Abbey and Village

Both the village and the abbey belong to the National Trust. A country house created out of a medieval abbey, it is the former home of William Henry Fox Talbot, a pioneer of photography. Lacock Abbey

See one or all of the six White Horses cut into the chalk of the Wiltshire Downs.

Crop Circles(Corn Circles)

Rushall is a good base to explore the mysterious crop circles(corn circles)which appear in nearby fields in June, July and August
